Ginnie (Shane’s Mom) and Dianne enjoying China Town Christmas Tree in Los Angeles, CA
Taylor and Allie arrived safely in the US in mid-June and spent a busy summer with family in central Arkansas. Taylor was able to join at the last minute with the youth from Pulaski Heights Baptist Church, Little Rock on a mission trip to Arizona. Both Allie and Taylor moved to Macon, Georgia to begin their freshmen year at Mercer University. We praise the Lord that both of them have done exceptionally well with all the challenges of college and living with a roommate while adjusting to life in the US. We’re anxious to hear about their grades from this first semester!
Cookout with CBF of MO group and Devleskero Kher
Dianne has been the busiest of all of us since July. She hosted an amazing team from CBF of Missouri who came to minister in Slovakia the last of July/first of August. After a blessed experience with them, she closed up everything in Slovakia and arrived in Arkansas just in time to get Taylor and Allie moved in at Mercer. Dianne has already spoken at several churches in four different states, attended CBF reorientation, and spent important time with family in Arkansas.
Shane arrived in Pasadena, California the last week in July to begin studies on a Master of Theology in Intercultural Studies at Fuller Theological Seminary. Since July, he’s completed six different courses and has spent many, many hours in the Fuller library reading and writing. It’s been a rewarding challenge so far. He has three more courses to complete by March 2013 and then he can get to work on the tough part of the degree program! He has returned to Prague twice since July for International Baptist Theological Seminary board of trustee meetings.
Family at Thanksgiving in AR
The family was together the third week in September for Mercer’s Family Weekend. We were also able to celebrate Thanksgiving together in Arkansas. For Christmas, we’ll all be together in Pasadena; then a road trip to Las Vegas and over to see the Grand Canyon before heading back to Pasadena for the Rose Bowl Parade.
One of the joys of being back in the US is that we have better access to so many more books! Dianne was first to have an e-reader (Kindle) so that she could access books easily and cheaply from Slovakia; Shane has been much slower to embrace the new technology. Can you guess what he’s getting for Christmas?
The link below is to a fairly short list of books we’ve been challenged or encouraged by over the past few months. If you have some books you would like to share, please write to us. We’re both always interested in a good book.
