Focus on Education

This year the Slovak Baptist Union recommended a person for the Certificate of Applied Theology (CAT) program which is held at the International Baptist Theological Seminary in Prague, CZ.  The CAT program is an all-English, year long intensive program to introduce participants into the world of theological education.  It has been used by some Baptist Unions as a capstone for their seminary student’s educational process, as an aid for future studies, and to equip non-ordained church leaders for ministry within the church.
David H. is Roma and is a member of the Baptist Church in Banska BystricaSlovakia.  He’s also in the leadership in the church’s mission in Zavadka nad Hronom.  We are thrilled that David was selected to attend the CAT program at IBTS.
Veronika B. is Roma and a member of the Baptist church in Velky KrtisSlovakia.  She is a theology student at the Slovakia’s Ecumenical Seminary.  She served with us in Vazec this summer during the Roma Children’s camp we conducted with the student.go team.
To support these two Roma students, we channel Texas Baptist Offering for World Hunger funds to cover the cost of their meals while at school.  Without this support, Vero would find it very difficult to continue to study because her parents are not able to financially support her.  For David, the support helps pay a large portion of the total cost for the CAT program and also him with meals which are not provided at IBTS.
